Holiday Season

Don’t miss: Winter WonderLights at the State Botanical Garden, select nights Nov 19 – Dec 30, 2026, plus Jan 7–9 and 15–16, 2027.

  • Winter WonderLights (State Botanical Garden, 2450 S Milledge Ave): a half-mile, fully accessible walk-through light show with s’mores and hot chocolate. Tickets are sold online in advance. Free show parking and shuttles run from the Turner Soccer Complex.
  • Thu, Dec 3, 7 PM: Downtown Parade of Lights. The 2026 theme is “Holiday Party,” and it goes ahead rain or shine.
  • Sat, Dec 12 (7:30 PM) and Sun, Dec 13 (3 PM): Athens Symphony Christmas Concert, with a visit from Santa. Tickets go on sale Nov 30.
  • Athens on Ice: ice skating at The Classic Center’s 440 Foundry Pavilion during the holiday season.
  • Tinsel Trail: more than 60 decorated live trees near The Classic Center and Foundry Street.
  • Holiday lights downtown along Clayton and College streets.

Recurring Things to Do

  • Athens Farmers Market, Saturdays: Bishop Park (705 Sunset Dr), 8 AM to noon from March to December and 9 AM to 1 PM in January and February. No admission charge.
  • Athens Farmers Market, Wednesdays: a smaller downtown market at Creature Comforts, 5–8 PM, March through November.
  • Paloma Park: Trivia Tuesdays, plus live music most Saturday and Sunday nights in the beer garden with no cover.
  • AthFest: a free downtown music and arts festival every June. The 2026 festival ran June 26–28.
